We are located in Beautiful West Point PEI
Souris East
The Souris East Lighthouse was designed by the Department of Marine and Fisheries and built by Peter Aylward in 1880.lt is 18.5m.(60ft.)high and stands 100 feet above high water mark. Inside there is a straight flight of stairs and two landings. The attached dwelling was removed in 1959,prior to electrification in 1961. The round lantern is unusual for this style of tower.

In 1961 Souris East Light was one of the first four lights in Canada to have a 400 watt mercury vapour light installed. These have since become a standard departmental issue. This light is a valuable aid to the Magdeline Islands Ferries. James Mclntosh was the last lightkeeper on PE.I. He retired in 1991 and today operates a bed and breakfast in Souris.
