| The Cape Egmont Lighthouse was constructed in 1883. It is located a short distance from the community of Cape Egmont. The Lighthouse overlooks the Northumberland Strait on the south west shore of Prince Edward Island. This coastal Lighthouse is an important light for fishing and marine interests along the south shore, as it is the only coastal light on the 46-mile coast between the lighthouses at West Point and Seacow Head.The flash pattern at the Cape Egmont Lighthouse is: Flash 2 sec. Jean Wilfred Gallant, better known as Jack a Ferdinand and his wife, Marie Leonie (Richard) were in charge of keeping the generator-operated lighthouse from 1920 to 1950.
The Cape Egmont Lighthouse is located along Lady Slipper Drive, Route 11. At a curve in the road where the paved road goes to Fishing Cove Harbour, take the gravel road in through the woods.
