| Victoria, once one of the Island's busiest seaports, has the only Island rangelight which houses two different lights. The 10.7 metre structure was built in 1879 and serves as both Leard's Front Range and the Palmer's Back Range.
Other lights guiding mariners into the harbour are Leard's Back Range (U.7 metres) built in 1878; Wright's Back Range (9.75 metres) built in 1894; and Wright's Front Range (17 metres) built in 190.3.
The Victoria Seaport Museum, opened in 1990, houses a collection ot photographs outlining the development ot the seaport and the history of former keepers. This tower replaces an 1869 beacon which was hoisted on a mast. |
